Russian President Vladimir Putin has praised the Islamabad memorandum of understanding.
He was speaking at the ASEAN summit held in the Russian city of Kazan when he made the remarks. Moscow has regarded the agreement as an important step towards a lasting settlement of the dispute.
He added that it could serve as a model for future peace accords, and said stability in the Middle East would be beneficial for global energy markets.
