The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has stated that there is a likelihood of rain and hail in various parts of the country tonight.
The PMD has indicated that strong winds, storms, rain and hail are expected at several places in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Punjab, Islamabad, upper Sindh, and northern and north-eastern Balochistan.
It stated that in north-eastern Balochistan and southern Punjab, heavy to very heavy rain is also expected at some locations. In other regions of the country, hot and dry weather conditions are likely to persist.
Mian Channu faces severe weather
In Mian Channu, heavy rain and stormy winds brought down several trees, disrupting traffic flow. Power poles also collapsed due to strong winds, resulting in electricity outages in multiple areas. Authorities appealed to citizens to avoid unnecessary travel in view of the severe weather conditions. Following incidents of heavy rain, storms and fallen trees, concerned departments have been put on alert.
Southern Punjab low-lying areas affected
In several cities of southern Punjab, dust-laden winds were followed by rain of varying intensity, easing the heat. However, accumulation of water in low-lying areas has caused difficulties for residents.
Reports from multiple cities indicated cloudy conditions and rainfall in Burewala, Hasilpur, Chishtian, Faisalabad, Sillanwali, Mailsi, and Bahawalpur, with water entering low-lying neighbourhoods in some areas.
Heavy rain was recorded in Rajanpur and Dera Ghazi Khan, raising fears of flooding in streams and seasonal waterways. Rainfall also occurred in Jand, Kabirwala, Khanewal, Dunyapur, Shorkot, and Jahanian, bringing a change in weather conditions.
In Musa Khel, Balochistan, a van became trapped in a flash flood stream, although all passengers remained safe. In Dera Ismail Khan, heavy rain also led to water accumulation in low-lying areas. The PMD has forecast more rainfall.
