Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has reportedly filed a $3 million legal notice against veteran actor Paresh Rawal for exiting the much-anticipated Hera Pheri 3 midway through production.
The legal action was initiated by Kumar’s production banner, Cape of Good Films, which accuses Rawal of breaching a formal agreement and walking out of the project without valid justification.
According to the media, Paresh Rawal’s sudden departure dealt a significant blow to the production, both financially and reputationally. The film, which aimed to revive the beloved Hera Pheri franchise with its original cast, had already cleared prior debts and begun promotional work featuring Rawal, Kumar, and Suniel Shetty.
A source close to the production said Rawal’s actions reflect a “blatant disregard for professional integrity or commercial morality.” It’s reported that the actor had attended script readings and creative meetings and was compensated well above industry rates—making his abrupt exit all the more damaging.
I wish to put it on record that my decision to step away from Hera Pheri 3 was not due to creative differences. I REITERATE THAT THERE ARE NO CREATIVE DISAGREEMENT WITH THE FILM MAKER . I hold immense love, respect, and faith in Mr. Priyadarshan the film director.

Rawal confirmed his withdrawal via social media platform X (formerly Twitter), stating it wasn’t due to creative differences. However, some magazines allege he simply claimed he "didn't feel like" continuing—a reason the producers deemed unacceptable for such a high-stakes project.
Despite initially trying to settle the matter privately, Cape of Good Films moved forward legally after repeated attempts to engage Rawal reportedly failed.
Fans of the Hera Pheri franchise, who have long awaited a reunion of the iconic trio, are left disheartened by the behind-the-scenes fallout.
