In an incredible display of smartphone durability, a UK skydiver accidentally dropped his iPhone 13 Pro Max from 14,000 feet, only to later recover it fully intact and functioning—even better than before.
Casey Flay, a 37-year-old engineer and wingsuit enthusiast from Devon, had stowed his phone in an open front pocket during a skydive last month. Moments after jumping, his GoPro helmet camera captured the phone soaring out into the sky. Initially thinking he had left it on the plane, Casey later used Find My iPhone to track it, only to find it lying in a forest nearly 4 miles away from his landing spot. “It just flies off when I jump—gone,” Flay said. “I thought I’d left it on the plane.”
After a 30-minute hike, Casey found the phone resting on the forest floor with no visible damage. Surprisingly, a side button, stuck for years due to a past drink spill, miraculously fixed itself during the fall. “There was not a scratch on it… It’s unbelievable,” said Flay.
The story has since gone viral, adding to a growing list of iPhone survival stories—from ocean drops to riverbed recoveries—boosting Apple’s already strong reputation for device durability.
