The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has granted bail to all Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNAs who were arrested in cases related to the violation of a no-objection certificate (NOC) and an attack on police personnel.
The court ordered the immediate release of all the detained MNAs.
The case was heard by Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain of the ATC. Lawyers on behalf of Sher Afzal Marwat, Sheikh Waqas Akram and others appeared in court.
The prosecutor told the court the investigating officer was occupied in the Islamabad High Court in connection with a case, at which the judge expressed displeasure and adjourned the hearing until the case record was produced. During the hearing, the court inquired whether anything was recovered from Marwat, Ahmed Chattha and other MNAs, to which the prosecutor replied in the negative.
The provisions imposed in the case carry a minimum of three years of punishment and bail should not be granted, the prosecutor argued.
Judge Zulqarnain, upon reviewing the matter and in light of the absence of case records, granted bail to the PTI MNAs on surety bonds of Rs30,000 each. The court also ordered their immediate release.
The PTI leaders are facing terrorism-related charges in cases registered at various police stations, including Sangjani, Tarnol, Noon, and Sumbal. Among those named in the cases are prominent PTI figures such as Sher Afzal Marwat, Sheikh Waqas, Zain Qureshi, Ahmed Chattha, Aamir Dogar, Yousuf Khan, Naeem Ali Shah, Owais Haider Jakhar, Shah Ahad, and Zubair Khan.
