Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday said Pakistan will continue striving for peace despite facing internal and external security challenges, describing the country as a globally recognised peacemaker.
Speaking at the passing-out parade of the 125th Midshipman and 33rd Short Service Commission Course at Pakistan Naval Academy PNS Rahbar in Karachi, the prime minister highlighted Pakistan's diplomatic role in the region while congratulating the graduating cadets.
Addressing the ceremony, Shehbaz Sharif said the world is undergoing major changes that are affecting people's lives, making peace and regional stability more important than ever.

He said Pakistan is known today as a bearer of peace and a peacemaker on the global stage, adding that the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding between Iran and the United States was a matter of national honour.
According to the prime minister, the historic agreement became possible through Pakistan's sincere mediation efforts and the support of brotherly and friendly countries.

Shehbaz praised Field Marshal Asim Munir for his role in advancing regional peace. He said the military chief worked "day and night" to help establish peace and support Pakistan's diplomatic initiatives.

The PM described the recent visit of Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian to Islamabad as a reflection of the brotherly relationship between Pakistan and Iran.
He said the visit also served as recognition of Pakistan's contributions to promoting peace and stability across the region.
Pakistan facing internal, external challenges
Speaking about the country's security environment, Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan is passing through a complex and multifaceted phase marked by both internal and external challenges.
He said the country faces a dangerous combination of global and external threats, while alleging that Pakistan's eastern neighbour had begun using proxy elements after suffering a humiliating defeat.

Despite these challenges, he reiterated that Pakistan would continue pursuing peace and regional stability.
Passing-out parade held at PNS Rahbar
Prime Minister Sharif earlier arrived in Karachi on a one-day visit, where he was received at PNS Qasim by Sindh Governor Nehal Hashmi and Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah.
The prime minister attended the passing-out ceremony of the 125th Midshipman and 33rd Short Service Commission Course at Pakistan Naval Academy PNS Rahbar as the chief guest.
He was presented with a guard of honour before reviewing the parade and congratulating the graduating cadets.
Shehbaz said it was a pleasure to see cadets from friendly countries participating in the ceremony and praised the Pakistan Navy's prominent role in the fight for justice.
During the ceremony, the prime minister distributed awards among the best-performing midshipmen and officer cadets.
Officer Cadet Hafeez Muhammad Ahmed Munawar received the Chief of Defence Forces Gold Medal. Officer Cadet Alvira Hamza of the Short Service Commission Course was awarded the Commandant's Gold Medal.
The Academy Dirk Midshipman Award was presented to Hadi Abbas Khan, while Midshipman Umar Mukhtar received the Sword of Honour for his outstanding performance.
Senior civil, military leadership at ceremony
The passing-out parade was attended by Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Information Minister Atta Tarar, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Sindh Governor Nehal Hashmi and other senior political and military officials.
The ceremony marked the successful graduation of a new batch of Pakistan Navy officers as they prepare to begin their professional service.
