Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman has praised Pakistan’s role in facilitating the Iran-US peace process, saying the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has placed all parties in a position to end the war and move toward a lasting settlement.
Speaking to Al Jazeera, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman said the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) marked a significant breakthrough in efforts to end the conflict.
“After signing the memorandum of understanding, we are in a position to end the war,” the Qatari prime minister said.
He described the preliminary agreement as a major step toward peace and said it provides the framework needed to move negotiations forward.
Pakistan’s efforts praised
The Qatari premier credited Pakistan for helping create the conditions necessary for the talks to succeed. He said the initial agreement was the result of the strenuous efforts of Pakistan’s partners and emphasized that Pakistan had created a conducive environment for negotiations with regional and international support.
According to Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman, Pakistan’s diplomatic engagement played a key role in bringing the parties together and advancing the peace process.
The Qatari prime minister said the primary objective of the MoU is to end the war and establish a foundation for future negotiations.
He explained that the preliminary agreement provides a formal institutional structure for dialogue and creates a framework through which all parties can continue discussions in an organized manner.
Key issues to be discussed
Sheikh Abdulrahman said the next phase of negotiations will focus on several critical regional issues. Among the topics expected to be discussed are Iran’s nuclear program, the future of the Strait of Hormuz and broader regional security matters.
He said these discussions will form part of the continuing diplomatic process aimed at achieving a comprehensive and lasting agreement.
Formal framework now in place
The Qatari prime minister noted that the preliminary agreement has established a formal institutional framework for negotiations.
He expressed optimism that the structure created through the MoU would help maintain momentum and support constructive engagement among all sides involved in the process.
The remarks come as diplomatic efforts continue following the signing of the Islamabad MoU, which has been widely viewed as a key step toward reducing tensions and advancing regional stability.
