Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has reached out to Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) President Abdul Aleem Khan, inviting his party to join hands in forming a coalition government in Gilgit-Baltistan, party sources said on Monday.
According to details, the telephonic conversation between the two political leaders focused on the formation of the next government in the region, including support for key constitutional positions such as Chief Minister and Speaker of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly.
During the discussion, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari extended an invitation to the IPP leadership to collaborate with PPP in the upcoming government formation process, aiming to secure a stable majority in the assembly.
Sources said Abdul Aleem Khan responded positively to the offer and agreed in principle to support PPP in the formation of the government in Gilgit-Baltistan.
He also assured PPP leadership of IPP’s backing in the elections for chief minister, speaker, and other important posts, strengthening the prospects of a joint government in the region.
Speaking after the conversation, Abdul Aleem Khan described the talks with Bilawal Bhutto Zardari as “pleasant and positive,” adding that his party would play its role in ensuring stability in the upcoming setup.
He further stated that IPP’s support would help secure a “strong and clear majority” in the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly for key leadership positions.
