Iranian President Dr Masoud Pezeshkian will pay an official one-day visit to Pakistan tomorrow, the Foreign Office said, in a major diplomatic engagement after the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.
According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, President Masoud Pezeshkian will be accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising ministers and other senior officials.
This will be Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian’s second visit to Pakistan as president of Iran.
Preparations are underway in Islamabad’s Red Zone ahead of the visit. Flags of Pakistan and Iran have been placed on Constitution Avenue, while CDA staff are busy decorating the area.
Extraordinary security arrangements are also being made for the expected arrival of the Iranian president.
Meetings with top Pakistani leadership
During the visit, President Pezeshkian will meet President Asif Ali Zardari. He will also hold an important meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, where the two leaders are expected to discuss bilateral relations, mutual cooperation and the promotion of high-level contacts.

Meetings will also be held with the Senate chairman, National Assembly speaker, Deputy prime minister and foreign minister.
Pakistan’s mediation role likely to be discussed
Sources said the Iranian president is expected to thank Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for Pakistan’s mediation between the United States and Iran.
The visit comes after the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding and is expected to provide an important opportunity for further discussions on its implementation.
Pakistan is also likely to try to further advance its role in mediation and confidence-building between Washington and Tehran.
Bilateral cooperation on agenda
During the visit, both sides will review the full scope of Pakistan-Iran relations. Cooperation in various fields, including trade, energy, border security and regional relations, will be discussed.
The two sides are also expected to review progress on previous agreements related to bilateral economic cooperation.
Sources said the Pakistani and Iranian leadership will discuss border security, trade, energy and regional coordination. Energy cooperation, border trade and steps to increase bilateral trade volume are also expected to be part of the agenda.
The overall regional situation, mutual cooperation and matters of common interest will also come under discussion.
The Foreign Office said the visit reflects the shared desire of Pakistan and Iran for peace, stability and sustainable development in the region.
The official engagement is being seen as an important diplomatic development at a time when regional cooperation and dialogue remain central to Pakistan’s foreign policy priorities.
