On the sidelines of talks in Switzerland, United States Vice President JD Vance said on Sunday: “We love Pakistan.”
Responding to a journalist’s question, Vance gave a brief but significant reply, saying that the United States holds Pakistan in high regard.
The statement is being viewed as recognition of Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts in support of peace in the region and its role in facilitating dialogue.
The US vice president’s remarks drew attention for their importance amid ongoing diplomatic engagement linked to regional peace initiatives.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister’s Office said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir met an Iranian delegation led by Speaker of Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
The meeting took place during US-Iran technical-level talks held in Burgenstock, Switzerland, on June 21, as a follow-up to the Islamabad memorandum of understanding.
