The National Assembly has approved 88 demands for grants totaling more than Rs 4.3 trillion during a session marked by smooth passage of budgetary approvals.
Lawmakers did not present any cut motions against the demands, allowing all allocations to be passed through majority vote.
The House approved seven major demands worth over Rs 3.0 trillion for defence and defence production.
In the communications sector, demands worth Rs 125 billion 72 crore 36 lakh were approved. Funding for education stood at Rs 192 billion 70 crore, while water resources received Rs 107 billion 32 crore.
These approvals represent some of the largest allocations across key national sectors.
The Cabinet Secretariat’s 10 funding requests totaling Rs 35.38 billion were also approved by lawmakers.
Additional allocations included:
- Foreign Affairs: Rs 68.17 billion
- National Health: Rs 53.28 billion
- Information Technology: Rs 42.7 billion
- Planning Division: Rs 37.21 billion
Officials said these allocations are part of routine federal expenditure approvals.
Sector-wise approvals across ministries
The National Assembly also approved funding across several other ministries and divisions.
Key approvals included:
- Industry and Production: Rs 29.53 billion
- Information and Broadcasting: Rs 27.57 billion
- Trade: Rs 27.99 billion
- Law and Justice: Rs 24.91 billion
- Housing and Works: Rs 22.31 billion
- Science and Technology: Rs 19.54 billion
- Economic Affairs: Rs 15.10 billion
- Railways: Rs 111.13 billion
- Inter-Provincial Coordination: Rs 5.20 billion
These allocations cover operational and development-related expenditures across federal departments.
Additional approvals for Other divisions
Smaller but significant approvals were also granted for multiple departments, including maritime affairs, national heritage, and regional affairs.
These included:
- Maritime Affairs: Rs 4.12 billion
- National Heritage: Rs 3.4 billion
- Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan Affairs: Rs 3.18 billion
- Overseas Pakistanis: Rs 3.73 billion
- Human Rights: Rs 2.33 billion
- Religious Affairs: Rs 2.40 billion
- Parliamentary Affairs: Rs 1.20 billion
- National Assembly Secretariat: Rs 9.30 billion
- Senate Secretariat: Rs 3.21 billion
