The negotiations between the United States and Iran on the implementation of a memorandum of understanding have begun at the Bürgenstock resort in Switzerland on Sunday.
A statement issued by the Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the first round of talks had commenced between high-level committees of the United States and Iran under the mediation of Pakistan and Qatar.
The statement said Qatar hoped the launch of the negotiating process would lead to a comprehensive and lasting agreement covering all matters outlined in the memorandum of understanding.

It added that specialised technical and expert working groups had been established to negotiate all provisions of a final agreement and to advance discussions on every aspect of the memorandum.
Qatar's Adviser to the prime minister and Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Dr Majed bin Mohammed Al Ansari, said follow-up groups had also been formed to oversee implementation of the memorandum and monitor progress towards a final settlement.
He said Qatar, alongside Pakistan and other relevant parties, would continue efforts to support a constructive atmosphere for the negotiations, stressing that dialogue and diplomacy remained the most effective means of resolving disputes.
Dr Al Ansari praised Pakistan's role as a partner and mediator in the process and expressed appreciation for the commitment shown by the United States and Iran to diplomatic engagement.
Earlier, an Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson said a joint meeting involving the United States, Iran, Pakistan and Qatar would be held in the afternoon. The one-day meeting at Bürgenstock would also include discussions on ceasefire negotiations in Lebanon as a key agenda item.
Qatar reiterated its support for efforts aimed at securing a final agreement that would strengthen lasting peace, security, stability and prosperity across the region.
