The Federal Development Program 2026-27 has allocated major funding for education, research and youth skills, including Rs46 billion for higher education and Rs22 billion for Danish Schools.
Higher education and research have been described as the backbone of Pakistan’s economic and social growth.
Under the Annual Development Program 2026-27, Rs46 billion has been allocated for the higher education sector, marking a significant increase from Rs34.9 billion in the previous year.
The funding will support scholarships for deserving students, enhance the research capacity of universities and promote digital learning.
Pakistan Education and Research Network
The development program also includes upgrading the Pakistan Education and Research Network. The initiative aims to strengthen digital learning and support universities in improving research, connectivity and academic collaboration.
The program also includes measures to promote an AI-based education system, reflecting the government’s focus on preparing students for emerging technologies.
Rs22bn allocated for Danish Schools
The prime minister’s vision is to expand educational opportunities for underprivileged sections of society.
According to the development program, Danish Schools are a key example of this vision, providing high-quality education to talented but underprivileged children across the country.
Around Rs22 billion has been allocated for Danish Schools in the Federal Development Budget 2026-27.
School, college education gets Rs26.3bn
A total of Rs26.3 billion has been allocated for school and college education.
The funding will support teacher training, efforts to increase school enrollment, expansion of early childhood education and promotion of digital learning.
The government has also allocated Rs7.9 billion for youth skills and employment through NAVTTC under the Prime Minister’s Youth Skills Development Program.
The initiative aims to equip Pakistani youth with modern skills so they can participate in the 21st-century economy.
