The Pakistan Markazi Muslim League (PMML) sent on Friday a memorandum to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif containing key economic recommendations for the federal budget 2026-27.
The memorandum, submitted by the party’s Industry and Commerce wing, Pak Traders Forum, called for the complete abolition of the interest-based financial system in Pakistan.
It stated that the country’s existing financial structure is based on interest and is creating increasing difficulties for the business community.
The memorandum also called for the immediate abolition of the petroleum levy, stating that it is a major factor behind rising inflation and increasing production costs.
The PMML urged the government to curb unnecessary imports and expand the tax net to improve revenue collection.
