The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Higher Education Department has announced summer vacations for colleges, universities and higher education institutions across the province.
According to an official notification, educational institutions in summer and winter zones will observe separate vacation schedules, while examinations and four-year BS programmes will continue according to their approved academic calendars.
The Higher Education Department said all colleges, universities and higher education institutions located in the summer zone and plains areas will remain closed from June 15 to August 31.
The decision applies to both government and private sector institutions operating in these regions. Officials said the extended vacation period has been announced in view of the summer season and prevailing weather conditions.
Winter zone institutions
According to the notification, educational institutions located in winter and mountainous zones will remain closed from July 1 to July 31.
The Higher Education Department said colleges and universities in these areas will observe a one-month summer break before resuming academic activities.
As a result, institutions in the summer zone will receive approximately two and a half months of vacations, while institutions in the winter zone will observe a one-month holiday period.
All public and private institutions
The notification clarified that the summer vacation schedule will be applicable to all government and private universities, colleges and higher education institutions across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Authorities have directed educational institutions to implement the schedule according to their respective zonal classifications.
BS programmes to continue
The Higher Education Department stated that four-year BS programmes will continue in accordance with the academic calendars of the respective universities and colleges.
Any academic activities already scheduled under approved university calendars will proceed as planned.
Examinations to continue
The department also clarified that all examinations, including practical examinations conducted by various educational boards and institutions, will be held according to their pre-determined schedules.
Students appearing in annual, supplementary or practical examinations have been advised to follow the dates already announced by their respective boards and institutions.
