Former Pakistan fast bowler Wasim Akram has criticised an Indian social media user for falsely attributing to him a remark comparing the selection criteria of the Pakistan and India cricket teams.
Akram took to X to dismiss the fabricated quote, which concerned Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav. The former Pakistan captain wrote: “Stop lyingI will have to report you."

"Things are going sideways with fake news. I have learned one thing in this day and age: don’t believe social media straight away. Triple-check if you have to,” Akram added.
The response came after an Indian user, identified as Muffatball Vikrant, shared a false quote in Akram’s name.
The fabricated post stated: “If Suryakumar Yadav were from Pakistan, he would have played for five more years after winning WC.”
Akram publicly rejected the claim and urged social media users to verify information before sharing it.
