The federal government has directed the National Assembly Secretariat to prepare for a possible budget session at 5pm tomorrow (Wednesday), parliamentary sources said.
National Assembly officials said they have received a message from the government regarding the budget session, but are still waiting for an official notification from the Presidency.
According to parliamentary sources, the government has ordered the National Assembly Secretariat to complete preparations for the budget session. Officials said the message conveyed to them indicates that the session is expected to be held at 5pm tomorrow.
However, they added that formal confirmation will come only after the Presidency issues the official notification.
Earlier proposal was for June 12
Sources said an earlier proposal suggested convening the budget session on June 12. The latest communication points to preparations for an earlier parliamentary sitting, though the official schedule has yet to be notified.
However, federal minister Tariq Fazal Chaudhry told Samaa TV the federal budget would be presented on June 12. He said a summary has been sent to convene sessions of both the National Assembly and the Senate on June 10.

According to Chaudhry, it has been proposed to convene the National Assembly session on June 10 at 5pm. He added that a summary has also been sent to convene the Senate session on June 10 at 4pm.
Final notification awaited
National Assembly officials said they are awaiting the Presidency’s notification before formally moving ahead with the session schedule.
The budget timeline is expected to become clearer once the official notification is issued.
