Sydney Sweeney has once again teamed up with American Eagle Outfitters for a new summer campaign that has quickly grabbed attention online.
The latest release comes after earlier controversy tied to the brand’s denim ads.
This time, her return has reignited discussion across social media platforms.
The 28-year-old star appears in American Eagle’s latest campaign titled “Syd for Short: American Eagle Jean Shorts,” released on April 15.
In the visuals, Sweeney showcases effortless summer style, wearing blue denim cutoffs paired with an off-shoulder white blouse. In another look, she is seen in light-wash frayed shorts styled with a simple white T-shirt.
Her makeup remains soft and natural, featuring rosy lips, subtle highlight, and long lashes, while her blonde bob is styled in loose beach waves.
Beach-inspired looks and campaign video
The campaign also features a more relaxed beach aesthetic, where she wears a blue crochet top against a sandy backdrop.
In the promotional video, she appears in a denim crop top tied at the waist with matching shorts, highlighting a casual summer vibe.
At one point in the video, she asks, “What brand am I wearing?” before the clip transitions into multiple outfit changes.
“Yeah, that one,” she adds while laughing. “American Eagle jean shorts.”
Social media reactions return
Fans quickly reacted online, with discussions resurfacing from her previous campaign.
On X, users commented on the renewed collaboration. Some praised the campaign’s aesthetic, while others referenced earlier backlash tied to her denim advertisements.
One user wrote, “Haters won’t like this,” while another questioned her return to the brand partnership.
Sweeney’s earlier collaboration with American Eagle in August 2025 drew widespread attention due to its “great jeans” tagline, which some viewers interpreted as a reference to her appearance rather than the clothing.
The reaction sparked debate online and turned the campaign into a viral talking point.
Sydney Sweeney responds
In a later interview with GQ, Sweeney addressed the backlash, saying, “I did a jean ad.”
She added, “The reaction definitely was a surprise, but I love jeans. All I wear are jeans. I’m literally in jeans and a T-shirt every day of my life.”
Sweeney is widely known for her roles in Euphoria and the romantic comedy Anyone But You, both of which boosted her global popularity and brand appeal.
