The next round of negotiations between the government and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on the federal budget could not take place.
Sources divulged on Saturday that the government is awaiting the decisions of the PPP's consultative meeting, where the party is expected to finalise its position on outstanding matters. The decisions taken during the consultative session will be communicated to the government's negotiating team.
Meanwhile, a formal meeting between the government and the PPP is likely to take place on Sunday.
The sources privy to the development added that whenever the PPP wishes to meet, the government is prepared to provide a briefing on the budget.
