Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi on Sunday criticized the redistribution of the province’s NFC share to other provinces, saying residents of the merged districts are being denied their rightful share.
Speaking at a peace jirga at Bajaur Sports Complex, Afridi said the public is being burdened instead of being given relief, and resources are being wasted on personal expenditures.
He emphasized that peace is essential for development and prosperity, adding, “Political differences aside, we are united for peace. Stand for stability, and leave development and progress to us.”
Afridi praised the sacrifices made by local communities during Pakistan’s difficult times and commended tribal elders for their efforts in promoting peace. He assured that the provincial government is committed to ensuring lasting stability in the region.
He also announced the establishment of a university campus in Bajaur and plans to connect the area to Dir and Swat motorways. Additionally, a Rs1 trillion development package for the merged districts will prioritize health and education sectors.
