The government has announced the cancellation of the Pakistan Day parade and related ceremonies scheduled for March 23, 2026.
The day will be observed with dignity and respect through simple flag-hoisting ceremonies. According to an official statement, the decision has been taken in view of the Gulf oil crisis and austerity measures announced by the government. All events associated with the Pakistan Day parade will not be held.
The step is intended to ensure that the nation’s commitment to the ideals of Pakistan Day, along with its resolve and steadfastness, is maintained while upholding the broader policy of austerity.
The statement directed all ministries, divisions and departments to mark the occasion in a simple and dignified manner so that, despite limited observances, the importance of the day and its true message remain preserved.
Later, the president approved a summary to cancel the Pakistan Day parade and all related celebrations. The decision was made on the advice of the prime minister as part of the government’s austerity measures.
The president stated that the prudent and responsible use of national resources is the duty of every citizen. The ceremony to commemorate Pakistan Day will now be held on April 28, 2026.
