Federal Minister for Information, Attaullah Tarar released fresh figures from the ongoing operation Ghazab lil Haq against militant groups, saying 684 Afghan Taliban militants have been killed and 252 checkposts destroyed so far.
According to the minister, the operation targeting militants described as Fitna-al-Khawarij and elements linked to the Taliban has also left 912 operatives injured, while security forces have captured and destroyed 44 additional militant positions.
Tarar said the operation resulted in the destruction of 229 tanks, armored vehicles, and artillery pieces belonging to the militants.
He added that Pakistani armed forces carried out airstrikes on 70 militant hideouts inside Afghanistan, targeting what he described as militant infrastructure used to plan attacks against Pakistani citizens.
According to the minister, during the night between March 14 and 15, military installations used by militants were targeted, including facilities linked to Afghan Taliban elements.
Tarar said a technical support infrastructure and weapons storage facility in Kandahar was destroyed, along with a tunnel where militants allegedly stored technical equipment.
He also stated that in the Chitral sector, a militant jump-off point located at Afghanistan’s Badini post was eliminated.
The information minister emphasized that no civilian areas were targeted during the operation and rejected claims circulating in some Afghan media as false propaganda.
