Former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Khan Afridi said on Friday that Shadab Khan is not a bad choice for the T20I captaincy.
Speaking on Zor Ka Jor on Samaa TV, Afridi said that if Mike Hesson remains head coach, Shadab would become captain. He maintained that Shadab is an able contender for leadership, but added that the all-rounder must improve his bowling performance if he wishes to lead the side.
“If Hesson stays as coach, Shadab will be captain,” Afridi said, adding that improvement in bowling remains essential for him.
Former cricketer Tauseef Ahmed, however, disagreed. He said Shadab does not merit a place in the playing XI and is being included in the side by Saqlain Mushtaq; otherwise, he would not make the team.
Tauseef reiterated that without such backing, Shadab’s place in the side would not stand.
