Taylor Swift’s long reign at the top of the Global Spotify chart has come to an end. After a record-setting 78 days at No. 1, her hit The Fate of Ophelia has been overtaken by End of Beginning by Djo, the music project of actor Joe Keery.
Taylor Swift had dominated the Global Spotify chart for 78 consecutive days with The Fate of Ophelia. The achievement marked one of the longest recent runs at the top of the platform.
Her chart-topping streak, however, has now been broken by Djo, marking a new milestone on the global music charts.
Djo claims no. 1 After Stranger Things finale
Djo, best known as Steve Harrington from Stranger Things, surged to No. 1 following the show’s finale. His song End of Beginning reclaimed the top position on Spotify.
Originally released in 2022, the track had already enjoyed chart success before gaining renewed momentum after going viral on TikTok.
Swift’s support for Djo revealed
Despite being dethroned, Swift has previously shown admiration for Djo’s work. The pop superstar has openly praised End of Beginning, highlighting her appreciation for emerging and alternative music.
Djo, whose real name is Joe Keery, has spoken about being surprised by Swift’s support.
Djo recalls meeting Taylor Swift
Speaking on The Spout podcast in 2024, Keery recalled meeting Swift at a New York studio. He said he was shocked to learn that the Grammy-winning singer was familiar with his music.
“She said, ‘Hey, I really love that track of yours, End Of Beginning,’” Keery shared.
Keery also recalled asking Swift how she discovered the song. He said she explained her love for exploring new music, adding that it did not surprise him that she had come across the track.
He described Swift as a genuine music lover who actively seeks out fresh sounds and new artists.
