Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly losing key members of their team amid growing concerns over unclear public messaging.
Observers say confusion around the couple’s long-term narrative is creating challenges within their inner circle.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have recently accepted the resignations of two senior communications figures, Meredith Maines and James Holt. Both departures occurred within a few months, highlighting a pattern of frequent staff turnover.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are now being described as uncertain about their public relations strategy.
Questions over messaging strategy
Royal expert Charlotte Foster, writing for The Mirror, noted that the high turnover rate has raised eyebrows among royal watchers. She said many are questioning why aides within the Sussex camp rarely remain for more than a few years.
The repeated departures have fueled speculation about deeper issues behind the scenes.
According to The Telegraph’s Guy Kelly, a key issue appears to be confusion over what Prince Harry and Meghan want to communicate to the world. He questioned whether the couple seeks privacy or publicity, and whether they see themselves as celebrities or dignitaries.
Kelly also pointed out that the Sussexes continue to define themselves by what they left behind rather than outlining a clear future direction.
Life after stepping back from royal duties
Prince Harry stepped back from royal duties in 2020 alongside Meghan Markle and their son, Prince Archie. Following their departure, the couple publicly accused the Royal Family of racism and shared their grievances in televised interviews.
They later settled in California, where they welcomed their daughter, Princess Lilibet.
