The United Arab Emirates on Friday welcomed Saudi Arabia’s efforts to support security and stability in Yemen, reaffirming its own commitment to backing peace and development in the war-torn nation.
In a statement issued on Friday, the UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it welcomed Saudi Arabia’s ongoing initiatives aimed at strengthening security and stability in Yemen.
The ministry praised the Kingdom’s role in serving the interests of the Yemeni people and supporting their legitimate aspirations for lasting stability and prosperity.
The UAE foreign ministry shared its position in a statement posted on social media platform X. It emphasized that Saudi Arabia’s efforts are vital for promoting peace and addressing the long-running challenges facing Yemen.
The statement underlined Abu Dhabi’s alignment with regional efforts focused on dialogue and de-escalation.
Saudi Arabia urges de-escalation
The UAE’s remarks followed comments from Saudi Arabia a day earlier, in which Riyadh said it remained hopeful that Yemen’s main southern separatist group would halt its recent escalation.
The group’s actions have resulted in it gaining broad control across much of southern Yemen, raising concerns about stability in the region.
Commitment to Yemen’s stability
The UAE affirmed its continued commitment to supporting all initiatives that contribute to strengthening stability and development in Yemen. Officials said such efforts would have a positive impact not only on Yemen but also on the wider region’s security and prosperity.
The statement reinforced the UAE’s long-standing position in favour of political solutions and regional cooperation to resolve the Yemeni conflict.
