Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has strongly rejected what he described as “insulting” conditions set by Washington for resuming talks, saying Iran will not accept them under any circumstances.
Addressing a ceremony in Tehran, President Masoud Pezeshkian said the United States is offering conditions that are unacceptable for the continuation of talks. He stressed that Washington’s approach undermines the very basis of dialogue.
Pezeshkian noted that Iran had previously engaged in talks with the US, but those efforts failed due to American actions.
Claim of talks sabotaged by US actions
The Iranian president said the United States sabotaged earlier negotiations by attacking Iranian nuclear facilities. According to him, such actions destroyed trust and made meaningful dialogue impossible.
He added that Iran cannot negotiate under pressure or threats, especially when its critical infrastructure is targeted.
Pezeshkian emphasised that Iran does not seek confrontation with any country. “We want peace and do not want conflict with anyone,” he said, underlining Tehran’s official position.
He reiterated that Iran has repeatedly stated it has no intention of building an atomic bomb, rejecting long-standing accusations from its critics.
Warning over regional pressure, Israel
The president said Iran’s opponents are attempting to weaken the country and distance it from its principles. He claimed these efforts are aimed at undermining Iran in favour of Israel.
Pezeshkian warned that such pressure would not force Iran to abandon its stance or compromise its sovereignty.
