Senator Faisal Vawda has said that the 14-year sentence handed to former DG ISI Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed marks “only the beginning” of a broader wave of accountability.
Speaking to SAMAA TV, he warned that anyone involved in wrongdoing would now face consequences as “no one is above the law.”
Senator Vawda said the punishment awarded to Faiz Hameed is a starting point for the founding PTI leadership, claiming that the “Field Marshal has laid the foundation of accountability within his own institution.”
According to Vawda, “whoever committed the crime will be punished,” adding that many cases — including those related to May 9 incidents — are still pending and will intensify in the coming period.

Calling the development a turning point, Vawda said,
“A new sun is rising for Pakistan. PTI is now becoming only a social media party.”
He added that the Pakistan Army has laid the foundation for accountability relating to the events of May 9, and that further actions would follow.
The senator claimed that the verdict against Faiz Hameed was being “appreciated internationally”, and that Pakistan was entering a phase where justice would prevail and “big idols will now be demolished.”
Vawda warned that the state would no longer tolerate hooliganism, chaos, or any attempts to undermine institutions.
He said:
“The coming time will be of justice for Pakistan. There will be intensity ahead for PTI and its founder.”
