Pakistani morning show host Nida Yasir, a prominent TV host, recently issued an apology following backlash over her comments about food delivery riders.
During a previous episode, Nida shared her experience with delivery riders, claiming that some try to extort extra money and often do not provide change. She mentioned that she tries to pay the exact amount or asks them to return with the change.
Her remarks sparked outrage, as delivery riders in Pakistan work under demanding and often hazardous conditions while earning minimal wages. Many riders called on her to apologize for her insensitive statement, noting that it generalized the entire profession.
In her latest show, Nida apologized, explaining that she has a habit of oversharing personal experiences. She clarified that her intention was to describe a personal experience and that her statement should have specified that only ‘some’ riders behave in this manner. She expressed regret for implying that all riders were at fault and acknowledged that she should have worded her statement more carefully.
The apology received mixed reactions online. Some praised her for taking responsibility, with one user commenting, “You are a humble person. It is good to apologize after realizing your mistake.”

Others defended her, saying, “What you said was not wrong. Social media explodes on everything.” Some critics noted, “You have been doing this show for a long time. At least by now you should know how to say things.”
