Shah Rukh Khan has opened up about the profound influence his father, Meer Taj Mohammed Khan, had on his professional journey, sharing emotional memories that continue to guide him even today.
During an exclusive conversation, the 60-year-old superstar — widely celebrated as the King of Bollywood — revisited one of his father’s most impactful teachings.
He remembered his father telling him, “I used to climb mountains barefoot when I was your age. If you want to climb it, then do it. If you don’t want to, then do not. Because those who do not work, do wonders.”
The Kuch Kuch Hota Hai actor noted that these words shaped his approach to challenges, encouraging him to rely on hard work and self-belief.
Family wanted him to choose sports
Reflecting on his early life, the Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham star revealed that his family initially wanted him to build a career in sports.
He shared this while responding to a question from Anupam Kher, who asked how his family influenced his professional decisions. SRK said despite their hopes, his life eventually steered him toward acting — a path that made him one of the most recognizable film stars in the world.
SRK explains why he skipped talk shows
Shah Rukh Khan also addressed the recent buzz around his absence from Two Much, the talk show hosted by Kajol and Twinkle Khanna.
Speaking to the BBC, the Pathaan actor clarified that he was injured and busy shooting at the time.
“I am doing a film right now! I told her (Kajol). I was injured too. I felt really bad. I would have loved to come on it… I am so sorry to you and to Twinkle,” he said.
He added with humor that he has now watched all the episodes as “penance” for missing the show, joking about the large amount of food featured on it.
