Pakistan’s Muhammad Waseem claimed the WBA Gold Bantamweight title in the final of Lahore’s first International Boxing Championship and dedicated his victory to the martyrs of the Pakistan Army.
Waseem defeated a Thai opponent after twelve rounds and successfully defended his honour. Spectators witnessed a fierce contest as both boxers fought for dominance, yet Waseem kept firm control of his nerves and neutralised the Thai boxer’s attacks with precision.
He said that the title brought honour to Pakistan and expressed gratitude to those who attended the event. He also thanked the Pakistan Army and the Punjab government for their support.
The Fight for Glory Championship concluded today. 15 countries took part and forty-four boxers competed in the event, held for the first time in Pakistan.
