Prince William and Kate Middleton are said to be concerned about the wellbeing of Prince Andrew, following sightings of the estranged royal horse riding on his Windsor estate.
Despite a strained relationship, the couple reportedly retains sympathy for Andrew’s mental health and social isolation.
Body language expert Judi James told The Mirror that while there is “no love lost” between Andrew and the Prince and Princess of Wales, the royal family continues to feel a responsibility toward his welfare.
“Andrew is reported to have become isolated, depressed, and solitary,” James explained. “It’s not his fault if photographers are ready to pounce when he ventures out. I don’t think William and Catherine would begrudge him a ride around the park and some fresh air.”
She added that while the couple may prefer such outings to occur away from their doorstep, they understand that Andrew is soon moving to Sandringham, providing more distance.
King Charles’ perspective
James also commented on King Charles, noting that the monarch likely sees the renewed media attention on Andrew as a distraction from the work of the rest of the royal family.
“It’s unfortunate that pictures of Andrew are in the press again, drawing attention away from the family’s ongoing charitable and public duties,” she said.
Andrew’s public image and activities
Royal commentator Jennie added that it would be better if Andrew were seen participating in charitable activities rather than idly amusing himself.
“However, he is so toxic that no one wants him anywhere near their organisation,” she noted, highlighting the continuing challenges Andrew faces in maintaining a positive public profile.
