Pakistan has further strengthened its global digital connectivity with the activation of a state-of-the-art submarine cable linking the country to Singapore, France, and other key international hubs.
The move promises to boost bandwidth capacity for cloud services, e-commerce, fintech, streaming platforms, and the broader digital economy.
According to the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecom, the newly activated submarine cable spans from Southeast Asia to Western Europe, passing through the Middle East.
This advanced infrastructure significantly increases Pakistan’s international bandwidth, providing smoother and faster connectivity for both businesses and consumers.
Thirteen-point-two terabytes per second of total capacity have been allocated for Pakistan via this cable, with four terabytes immediately activated to meet current demands.
Impacts on digital economy and services
Experts believe that the additional bandwidth will benefit multiple sectors. Cloud service providers and data centers can expand their operations, fintech companies can enhance transaction reliability, and e-commerce and streaming platforms can deliver faster services to users.
The enhanced connectivity is expected to strengthen Pakistan’s position as a competitive player in the global digital landscape.
