A Swedish man has set a record after placing 81 matchsticks in his nostrils at the request of his children.
The record attempt took place after his children urged him to try a challenge they saw in the latest Guinness World Records book, which they found impressive. They told him that it would be remarkable if he set a record of his own.
Martin Stroby, aged 42, told Guinness World Records that he initially believed he could not excel in any field. He said he changed his view when his children showed him various records and he realised that a challenge might exist that he could break. He then began a search for a suitable record.
Stroby noted that he found a record for the highest number of matchsticks placed in nostrils, which stood at 68. Further trials showed that he could widen his nostrils to a great extent and endure the discomfort of inserting a large number of matchsticks. He stated that this ability felt natural to him. He then placed 81 matchsticks in his nostrils and surpassed the previous record.
