King Abdullah II of Jordan visited Pakistan’s defence organisation, Global Industrial and Defence Solutions (GIDS).
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the King was accompanied by Princess Salma bint Abdullah and a high-level delegation of civil and military officials. King Abdullah II, son of Hussein, also serves as the Supreme Commander of the Jordanian Armed Forces.
During the visit, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir welcomed the King and his delegation and provided a detailed briefing. The session highlighted Pakistan’s indigenous defence production, technological innovation, and prospects for bilateral defence cooperation with Jordan.
Later, King Abdullah II inspected the Tilla Field Firing Ranges, where Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was present. The distinguished visitors observed a joint fire and manoeuvre exercise. The King’s visit marked a milestone in strengthening the historic relations between the two countries.
The ISPR reported that the joint exercise demonstrated ground, air, and multi-domain operations, with an impressive display of drones, spectrum warfare, and integrated firepower. King Abdullah II commended the training, professional expertise, and operational capabilities of the participating personnel.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that Pakistan holds deep respect and affection for King Abdullah II and the people of Jordan, and the visit reflects the longstanding relations, mutual trust, and shared objectives of peace and development between the two countries.
The ISPR added that Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir emphasised the robust defence partnership between Pakistan and Jordan and reaffirmed the commitment to expand military cooperation in the future.
King Abdullah II awarded Field Marshal Asim Munir the Order of the Military Merit (First Degree) in recognition of his contributions to strengthening Pakistan–Jordan military cooperation.
