International travel is exciting, but the visa process can be challenging and exhausting, as completing all the paperwork is not always easy. Countries raise their visa fees every year or after a certain period to cater to the number of people applying for journeys in their countries.
As per the many reports, the country with the most expensive visa in the world is not the USA or the UK, but a Himalayan nation - Bhutan. Bhutan’s visit visa is considered the world’s costliest due to its unique fee structure.
Unlike other countries that charge a one-time fee, Bhutan follows a Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) model, charging $100 per person per night.
Reports indicate that Bhutan’s tourism philosophy focuses on fewer tourists but higher values, aiming to preserve its culture and environment.
According to another report, the Bhutanese government provides concessions for Indian citizens, who pay only 1,200 Indian Rupees instead of $100, and they do not require a visa, only an identity card.
