The surge in inflation that had persisted for five consecutive weeks has come to a halt, with a recorded reduction of 0.59% in the weekly inflation rate.
The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) has released the latest weekly inflation figures, revealing that, within a week, the prices of 18 essential items increased, while the prices of 12 items decreased.
According to the details, the overall annual inflation rate for the week stands at 4.18%. Among the key changes, eggs became Rs8.33 more expensive per dozen, while beef and mutton rose by Rs10.66 and Rs2.52 per kilogram, respectively. Firewood saw a price increase of Rs22.56 per maund.
In the past week, bananas became Rs2.86 more expensive per dozen, and a 20-kilogram bag of flour went up by Rs7.39 , bringing the average price of a flour bag to Rs2,195.81. Ghee, in a 2.5-kilogram tin, became Rs2.37 more expensive.
However, during the same period, tomatoes decreased by Rs66.21 per kilogram, onions by 8.49 per kilogram, garlic by Rs13, and live chicken by Rs2.21 per kilogram. Other items, including sugar, lentils (masoor, mash, chana), and potatoes, also saw price reductions.
Meanwhile, the prices of 21 other items remained stable throughout the week.
