The government has reduced the electricity tariff for industries by Rs15 per unit, bringing the new rate down from Rs38 to Rs23 per unit.
According to adviser to the finance minister, Khurram Schehzad, the decision will help lower business costs and pave the way for increased investment and employment opportunities. He said the government’s clear objective is to promote growth, attract investment and create jobs.
Khurram Schehzad said that halving the interest rate, improving access to capital, reforming the tax structure and providing relief for salaried and corporate sectors are among the government’s key measures. He added that by focusing on the undocumented economy, compliance and enforcement are being strengthened.
The adviser mentioned that the regulatory framework has been eased and the lengthy approval process has been significantly shortened.
