A case has been registered against a young fan who entered the players’ dressing room during the ongoing Pakistan-South Africa Test Match in Lahore, police confirmed on Thursday.
The incident occurred when the boy, reportedly a fan of Pakistan captain Babar Azam, managed to slip past security personnel and reach the team’s dressing area in an attempt to take a selfie with his favorite cricketer.
Authorities immediately took the youth into custody, and a formal case was registered at the local police station.
Charges include breach of prohibited area
According to police officials, the case includes sections related to entering a prohibited area and interfering in government affairs. The youth’s identity has not been disclosed, but officials said an investigation is underway to determine how he managed to gain unauthorized access.

The Lahore police stated that the incident represented a serious lapse in event security, especially given the high-profile nature of international cricket matches hosted at the stadium.
“The boy entered a restricted area without permission. A case has been registered and further investigation is ongoing,” a police spokesperson said.
PCB orders review of dressing room security
Following the incident, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to further strengthen security arrangements for players and staff inside the stadium premises.
PCB sources said that a protective fence will be installed between the spectators’ enclosure and the dressing room area to prevent similar breaches in the future.
Officials noted that while the fan’s intentions appeared harmless, the episode highlighted the need for tighter access control and surveillance at all entry points to maintain player safety.
“The PCB takes this matter seriously. Security protocols will be reviewed to ensure such incidents do not recur,” a board official said.
