Scientists have confirmed the presence of a rare hybrid bird in the US state of Texas.
According to details, biologists at the University of Texas at Austin have produced a documentary on an unusual bird believed to be the offspring of a green jay and a blue jay.
The author of the study, Brian Stokes, said the two separate bird species appear to have met as a result of climate change.
Until the 1950s, the green jay, native to Central America, barely reached southern Texas from Mexico. The blue jay, common in the eastern United States, reached no further west than Houston.
For that reason, a meeting between the two birds remained almost impossible. Over time, however, the green jay reached northern parts of the United States, while the blue jay moved westward. As a result, these distinct bird species have come closer to each other.
