Abu Dhabi has introduced a new Code of Professional Ethics for teachers, setting out clear standards of conduct and prohibiting behaviours that undermine professionalism, respect, and integrity in schools.
The move aims to strengthen trust across the education system while safeguarding students, staff, and the wider community.
Prohibited behaviours under the new code
The code highlights several actions that are strictly prohibited, including:

Discrimination or harassment based on religion, ethnicity, social status, age, or gender.

Discriminating against female employees who are pregnant or have recently given birth.

Promoting extremism, racism, bullying, or indoctrination.

Wearing culturally inappropriate or immodest attire that violates dress codes.

Verbal or physical harassment of colleagues.

Spreading rumours or damaging reputations.

Disclosing confidential information without consent.

Excluding colleagues from professional activities or misrepresenting qualifications.
Officials stressed that non-compliance could result in serious administrative or legal consequences for schools and individuals.
Education leaders said the new standards are not limited to classroom teaching but extend to all interactions with colleagues, parents, and the wider community.
