Foldable phones are no longer futuristic concepts — they’re here, and they’re getting sharper, thinner, and smarter with each release.
If you’re choosing between Google’s new Pixel 10 Pro Fold and Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7, both running Android 16, you’ll find plenty of similarities but also some key trade-offs in design, cameras, battery life, and durability.

When it comes to physical feel:
-
Galaxy Z Fold 7 is sleeker and lighter, measuring 4.2mm when open, 8.9mm when closed, and weighing 215g.
-
Pixel 10 Pro Fold is bulkier at 5.2mm open, 10.8mm closed, and 258g.
On durability:
-
Pixel boasts an IP68 rating, offering full dust protection and water resistance up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes.
-
Z Fold 7 lags with an IP48 rating, resisting only limited dust and splashes.
Cameras
Samsung pushes camera hardware harder:
-
Galaxy Z Fold 7: 200MP main + 12MP ultrawide + 10MP telephoto.
-
Pixel 10 Pro Fold: 48MP main + 10.5MP ultrawide + 10.8MP telephoto.
Both carry dual 10MP selfie shooters (inner + cover).

For video:
-
Samsung supports 8K at 30fps and 4K at 60fps.
-
Google maxes at 4K 60fps.
One note: unlike other Pixel “Pro” phones, the Fold doesn’t support Google’s Pro Res Zoom (AI-powered 100x zoom). Instead, it uses Super Res Zoom capped at 20x.
Battery and charging
-
Pixel 10 Pro Fold: Larger 5,015 mAh battery, supports Qi2-certified wireless charging with magnetic PixelSnap accessories (and MagSafe compatibility). Google promises 30+ hours of use, with 50% charge in 30 minutes.
-
Galaxy Z Fold 7: Smaller 4,400 mAh battery, tested to last just over a day, with 42% charge in 30 minutes. It supports Qi wireless charging but lacks built-in magnets.

Both devices promise seven years of OS, security, and feature updates.
Key takeaway
-
Go Pixel 10 Pro Fold if you want better durability (IP68), brighter screens, bigger battery, and wireless accessory support.
-
Choose Galaxy Z Fold 7 if you prefer a lighter design, sleeker build, and industry-leading 200MP camera system with 8K video.
Either way, you’re paying a premium — but both foldables show how far the category has matured.
