Former Pakistan national cricket team captain Babar Azam has found it difficult to retain his place in category "A" of the central contract list due to the recent shortcomings in the competitive cricket.
Sources divulged on Thursday the preparation of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) central contract list is in the final stage. The PCB is likely to announce the central contract next week.
The sources privy to the development said there is a possibility of large-scale changes in contracts.
Pakistan T20I captain Salman Ali Agha and leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed are likely to be promoted in the category. Moreover, Faheem Ashraf, Mohammad Nawaz, Hasan Ali and Khushdil Shah are also likely to get central contracts.
Sahibzada Farhan, Hasan Nawaz and Sufiyan Muqeem are expected to be included in the contract list.
Sources added that Usman Khan, Haseebullah and Khurram Shahzad would not receive central contracts.
