The Punjab government has approved development projects worth Rs96 billion, with the bulk of the funding dedicated to building model villages and upgrading urban infrastructure.
The decision was made during a meeting of the Provincial Development Working Party.
Rs72bn for model villages
According to the plan, Rs72 billion will be spent on establishing model villages across the province, aimed at improving housing, public services, and community facilities in rural areas. Officials say the initiative is part of the government’s strategy to uplift living standards and promote balanced regional development.
Preserving religious heritage
In a move to protect cultural and religious diversity, Rs1.5 billion has been allocated for the protection and renovation of gurdwaras, churches, and temples. The funds will be used to restore historic sites and enhance facilities for visitors and worshippers.
