The circular debt in the power sector decreased by Rs1,065 billion during the first 16 months of the incumbent government, according to official documents.
A massive drop of Rs856 billion was recorded in June 2025 alone, compared to May 2025. The total circular debt stood at Rs1,614 billion by the end of June 2025.
Documents from the Power Division reveal that, as of February 2024, the total volume of circular debt had reached Rs2,679 billion. By the end of May 2025, the figure had reduced to Rs2,470 billion.
Over the course of the last financial year, the power sector’s circular debt fell by Rs779 billion. By the close of June 2024, the total volume of circular debt was reported at Rs2,393 billion.
