The government has decided to digitise Toshakhana records in an effort to bring transparency to the handling of gifts received from abroad by official and governmental figures.
According to details, a specialised application has been developed to support this initiative. The Cabinet Committee has finalised recommendations concerning Toshakhana regulations, which will soon be submitted to the federal cabinet for approval.
The new digital system will enable tracking, tracing and auditing of Toshakhana assets. Following the Toshakhana scandal, the federal government has taken a significant step towards ensuring transparency in the management of Toshakhana affairs.
The inventory application for maintaining digital records has been developed in collaboration with the Punjab Home Department, according to the Cabinet Division.
The automated Toshakhana system is expected to become operational soon. The Cabinet Division has already made records of gifts received up to 2024 available on its website.
