The district administration has announced a public holiday on July 11 (Friday) in connection with the annual Urs celebrations of revered Sufi saint Baba Haji Sher Diwan.
According to an official notification issued by Vehari Deputy Commissioner Imrana Tauqeer on Wednesday, all government offices across the district will remain closed on the day. However, the holiday will not apply to ongoing examinations conducted by education boards or universities.
“The public holiday has been declared to facilitate devotees and ensure smooth arrangements during the Urs celebrations,” the DC stated, adding that emergency services will remain operational as usual.
Departments providing essential services—including health, municipal, security, and emergency response—will continue to function without interruption, the notification clarified.
The annual Urs of Baba Haji Sher Diwan draws large numbers of devotees from across Punjab, with several religious and cultural events held over multiple days. Local authorities have directed relevant departments to ensure security and logistical support for the expected gatherings.
