The Lahore Police have summoned PTI leader Asad Umar to the DIG investigation headquarters on November 1 (Wednesday) to record his statement in five terror cases pertaining to the May 9 mayhem.
– ATC extends judicial remand of PTI’s Umer Sarfraz, 153 others –
An anti-terrorism court on Saturday extended the judicial remand of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former Punjab governor Umer Sarfraz Cheema and 153 others till November 11 in Jinnah House attack case.
ATC judge Abhar Gul Khan took up the case. During the proceedings, the police produced several individuals, including Mian Mahmood al-Rashid and Omar Sarfraz Cheema, before the court after completion of their judicial remand. However, one of the co-accused, Ijaz Chaudhry, could not be presented due to health issues.
The police prayed to the court to extend judicial remand for all the accused, which was later approved by the court until November 11.
It should be noted that the Sarwar Road police had previously registered a case against the individuals involved in this matter.
– Sanam Javed files contempt of court plea –
PTI activist Sanam Javed has filed a contempt of court plea against Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab and others in the Lahore High Court (LHC).
The petition, filed on behalf of Sanam Javed by advocate Shakeel Pasha, names various police officers, including the IG of Punjab and the Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) of Lahore, as respondents.
The basis of the petition is that, in compliance with a court order, the aforementioned officers were supposed to submit a report on the cases related to Sanam Javed to the Lahore High Court.
According to the police, two cases have been registered against Ms Javed, and they have subsequently arrested the individual in connection with these cases. Ms Javed was presented before the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in relation to these two cases.
