The Jhelum police have traced and returned a pair of stolen AirPods to British travel vlogger Lord Miles, months after they were reported stolen in Dubai.
The wireless earbuds were reportedly stolen from Lord Miles during his visit to the United Arab Emirates earlier this year.
According to initial reports, the device was taken by an Indian national and later sold to an overseas Pakistani, who brought the gadget back with him to Pakistan, unaware of its origins.
The vlogger, who is known for his adventurous journeys and social media presence, was able to track the location of the AirPods using Apple’s built-in tracking system, which indicated their presence in a residential locality of Jhelum.
However, unable to determine the identity of the user, Lord Miles shared the development on X (formerly Twitter), appealing to local authorities for assistance.
The social media post caught the attention of District Police Officer (DPO) Jhelum, Tariq Aziz Sindhu, who immediately ordered a targeted investigation. A door-to-door search was conducted in the area where the AirPods had been traced. Police officials were eventually able to locate the individual in possession of the device.
According to police sources, the person using the AirPods was cooperative and agreed to return them after being informed of the circumstances.
Lord Miles subsequently travelled to Pakistan from the United Kingdom to collect his property in person. The AirPods were formally handed over to him at the DPO’s office in Jhelum on Friday.
The incident has sparked discussions online about international coordination in cyber-assisted recoveries and the need for better awareness around the resale of electronic goods with traceable software.
DPO Sindhu, while speaking to media, lauded the swift efforts of the investigating team and highlighted the importance of responding to digital crime in an increasingly connected world.
