Shefali Jariwala, the Indian actress best known for her appearance in the 2002 remix video "Kaanta Laga", died on Wednesday at the age of 42.
According to Gulf News, the autopsy remains pending, although preliminary reports suggested cardiac arrest as the probable cause of death. Mumbai Police confirmed there was no indication of foul play and stated that it appeared to be a natural death.
Jariwala reportedly experienced acute chest pain and collapsed at her home. She was taken to hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival.
Increasing cardiac risk among young adults
Medical professionals have expressed concern over a growing trend in cardiac-related fatalities among young adults. Experts attribute these cases to untreated high cholesterol, chronic stress, tobacco use and a family history of heart disease.
In the United Arab Emirates, cardiovascular diseases remain one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality. Complications include heart failure, myocardial infarction, stroke, sudden cardiac arrest and aneurysm.
Dr Krishna Sarin M. S. Nair, Specialist in Interventional Cardiology at Aster Hospital, Qusais, Dubai, noted: "Acute stress may trigger heart attacks or cardiac arrests. This may result from physical exertion beyond one’s usual capacity, or from intense emotional trauma, such as severe grief or anger."
